Carlos David

Carlos David is a documentary director, photographer, and multimedia artist whose work explores diversity, identity, inclusion, and transformation. Over his carreer, he has created and directed projects for major cultural institutions and commercial clients, blending fine art aesthetics with authentic storytelling.

A multiple-time recipient of grants from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC), the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone (UMEZ), The National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures (NALAC), and the Adobe Artsits Development Fund—as well as a alumnus of Creative Capital’s “Taller”—Carlos has led awarness campaigns fo the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Latino and produced promotional content for NYU Steinhardt and Friends of the High Line. His photography has been featured in The New York Times, Time Out NY, Elle Slovenia, among other publications.

His documentary Being in New York (2023-2024) delves into self-expressio and personal narratives, while his portrait series PERSONAE has beein exhibited at El Barrio’s Artspace PS109, Instituto Cervantes, and beyond. Of Mexican-American heritage, he divides his time between New York City and Slovenia, waving documentary film, portraiture and immersive storytelling into inclusive narratives. His work has been exhibited intenationally , with shows in the United States, England, Slovenia, Croatia and Mexico.
